Understanding Who You Are

God’s plan for all His children is to have dominion and not be harassed by evil forces. The Lord spoke to Abraham, “that in blessing I will bless thee, and in multiplying I will multiply thy seed as the stars of the heaven, and as the sand which is upon the sea shore; and thy seed shall possess the gate of his enemies;” (Gen 22:17) We are Abraham seeds. God’s plan for each of us is to multiply and possess the gate of our enemies, not the enemies possessing our gates.
God’s word says, “and have made us kings and priests to our God; And we shall reign on the earth.” (Revelation 5:10)

Why is it that many of us are not manifesting kingship authority?

Why are princes walking on the ground and slaves riding horses?

Many of us are comfortably operating below God’s expectations. Believers are being harassed by the powers of darkness as if they are not armies of Christ.

Why are we running from pillar to post like people without authority?

Scripture says, Where the word of a king is, there is power; And who may say to him, “What are you doing?” (Ecc 8:4) . It is nothing but evil for a child of God who is redeemed by the precious blood of Jesus to be a perpetual victim of satanic oppression.

When King Ahaziah sent a captain of fifty with his fifty to Elijah, Elijah never argued with them. He said, “if I be a man of God, then let fire come down from heaven and consume you and your fifty men.” (2Kings 1:10) Elijah knew who he was. Certain situations are meant to be dealt with on the prayer altars, and failure to deal with them can negatively affect one’s life. Elijah dealt with this harassment without presenting himself to those who came to arrest him. It is one thing for you to be called a child of God; it is another thing to recognize yourself as a child of God. The truth is that, until you recognize yourself as a child of God and begin to operate in that understanding, the enemy will take advantage of your ignorance and deal with you mercilessly.

Jesus testified of him by saying, “Assuredly, I say to you, among those born of women there has not risen one greater than John the Baptist; but he who is least in the kingdom of heaven is greater than he.”

Matthew 11:11

John the Baptist found himself in a similar situation Elijah found himself but handled it differently. John was a man who came in the spirit of Elijah but could not do what Elijah did. He was arrested in Matthew chapter 4. He sent people to Jesus in Matthew chapter 11, and was beheaded in Matthew chapter 14.

John was more than a prophet (Matthew 11:9). Why didn’t he do what Elijah did?

Jesus testified of him by saying, “Assuredly, I say to you, among those born of women there has not risen one greater than John the Baptist; but he who is least in the kingdom of heaven is greater than he.” (Matthew 11:11)

Why was Elijah able to handle such a situation without him being killed, and John could not handle it that way? Scripture says, “A man who is in honor, yet does not understand, Is like the beasts that perish.” (Psalm 49:20)

John was a man in honor, a prophet that should not be harassed like an ordinary man but died like the beasts. If a prophet fails to exercise his authority, he becomes an ordinary man. You cannot be begging the enemy when you are meant to exercise authority. God’s power given to us is meant to deal with forces of darkness.

That’s why the word of God says, “for the weapons of our warfare are not carnal but mighty in God for pulling down strongholds, casting down arguments and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ.”

2 Corinthians 10:4-5

Elijah knew who he was and dealt with such harassment by invoking the authority vested on him. God’s children are lions and lambs. You are permitted to manifest a lion-like character while dealing with the forces of darkness and a lamb-like character while dealing with human beings.

The Lord told Job, “Have you commanded the morning since your days began, And caused the dawn to know its place, That it might take hold of the ends of the earth, And the wicked be shaken out of it?” (Job 38:12-13) You can shake off the wickedness of the wicked by issuing a command. You are a child of authority; make use of the authority given to you.
